Mr. Zain Ali is an experienced legal professional currently working as the Manager of Legal Affairs at Telenor Pakistan. He has 10+ years of professional experience in corporate and litigation areas of law.  

After graduating with LLB Hons from the prestigious University of London, he quickly made the IT and Telecom sector his forte. He specializes in complex commercial contracts drafting, negotiations, litigation, high profile litigation risk management, regulatory advice, and corporate governance.   

His interest in law and IT makes him a keen observer of legal tech where he constantly explores to incorporate tech into his daily routine in order to meet his personal plus professional company-wide goals in an efficient and effective manner.

Case Study

Telenor has been operating in Pakistan for over 15 years, handling a huge number of cases in all the different provinces of Pakistan. The team was looking to automate its operations. Mr. Zain Ali explained that their main goal was to simply have an app or software that notifies the legal team about hearings, with configured alerts sent via email that the hearing is in 2 or 3 days.

Many of the Legal Counsels that work with Telenor are organized and have their way of notifying the legal team of hearings and cases. They will send periodic updates via call or email. However, this is not the case for all of them; some are in remote areas, and would take longer to respond, and sometimes even miss a court hearing.

Using Dashboards & Extracting Data to Make Informed Decisions

Mr. Zain Ali explains the importance of agile and configurable dashboards when it comes to extracting data to make more informed business decisions, for example; being able to see how many cases are currently active in each province, which cases are pending, and how many new cases received in 2022, etc.

This is a really great tool, probably the best tool in App4Legal.

Mr. Zain Ali details when and why these dashboards come in handy. For example; Management might ask the legal team for a breakdown of all the cases related to BTS Towers for all the provinces. He explains how easy it is to configure the dashboard and extract the needed data with just a few clicks. Another example is when the Finance department requires the inflow of fresh cases in 2022.  

He continues to describe the necessity of such data to make informed decisions and accurately assess the operations to improve on every level.

It is extremely helpful to see which province has the highest litigation right now, and in what areas; labor, criminal, civil, etc. I use it very often. All these things combined made our lives easier. Feeding data to the module is crucial. App4Legal has given us the extra boost that we needed.
